Wat Si Saket Naga
#160314089
A carved window above the 15 foot long wodden trough carved Naga (serpent) at the rear of the Sim of Wat Si Saket which was built in 1818 by King Anouvong (Chao Anou) (Sethathirath V). This is the Haang Song Nam Pha (image-watering rail) used during the Lao New Year to pour water over Buddha images to ceremonially cleanse them. This temple is built in the Siamese style which may have spared it during the sacking of Vientiane in 1827 when the Siamese used it as their Headquarters.
