Royal Funerary Carriage House

The Royal Funerary Carriage House, built in 1962, in the Wat Xieng Thong (Temple of the Golden City) which was built in 1560 by King Setthathirath. The sculpted and gilded teakwood panels on the facade were crafted by local craftsman Thit Tanh and recount the story of the Ramayana. The complex was spared being destroyed in 1887 and is considered one of the most important monasteries in all of Laos. The entire complex was remodeled in the 1960's.
