Gilded Royal Carriage
#160312095
The 40 ft. gilded royal carriage was created by Thit Tanh in 1961 and used as a hearse for the body of King Sisavang Vong. It is the centerpiece inside of the Royal Funerary Carriage House of the Wat Xieng Thong (Temple of the Golden City) which was built in 1560 by King Setthathirath. It was spared being destroyed in 1887 and is considered one of the most important monasteries in all of Laos. The entire complex was remodeled in the 1960's.
