The Patuxai (Victory Gate or Gate of Triumph). also known by the French as the Monument Aux Morts, a war monument built between 1957 and 1968 dedicated to the fallen in the struggle for independence against the French. It was built using American funds and cement that was originally intended to build a runway during the Vietnam War - causing to also be referred to as the vertical runway.
